After working in politics, journalism, banking and the not-for-profit sector, Kate was drawn to the law. She completed her degree through Deakin University, whilst living and working in the regional community of Keith in the Upper South East of South Australia.
Kate moved to Port Lincoln in 2013 to start her career as a lawyer. She grew up in Kimba and has strong family roots there, so coming back to the Eyre Peninsula amounted to a move back home for Kate.
After working with two other legal firms, in 2018 the Principal Lawyer of Ezra Legal, Michael Fabbro, invited Kate to join his practice as their first lawyer based in Port Lincoln.
One of Kate’s proudest moments as a lawyer was helping a Port Lincoln farming family to fend-off bankruptcy after they had fallen on hard times through ill-health and drought. Kate represented them in 2018 at one of the first farm debt mediations held in South Australia. She was able to negotiate terms that saw them satisfy creditors and remain solvent.
2019 also saw Kate take the lead on a successful multi-million dollar commercial property transaction, which involved significant negotiation, logistical planning and detailed contracting.
The most rewarding component of legal services for Kate, however, is client satisfaction and ongoing support. When clients in the Port Lincoln region return to Ezra Legal for legal advice and representation, that’s a clear sign that we are delivering a high quality professional service.
